VISIT TO A GERMAN SCHOOL
From 26 th Novemeber, 2017 to 2nd December, 2017 a group of students and their teachers from Primary School No. 1 visited a charming town in Germany - Doberlug-Kirchain. Together with partner schools from Ireland, England, Greece, Spain and Germany, we had a very important mission to fulfill.
The main theme of the project focuses on the issue of entrepreneurship of young people today. Students presented the idea of entrepreneurship during the Christmas market, which took place at the local primary school Berg-Grundschule. During the fair, students sold previously prepared Christmas decorations - bells made of aspen wood. Our product aroused considerable interest in the local German community. Their attention was also attracted by the attitude of our students, who were dressed in Silesian costumes. They proudly represented the country and region from which they come.
The children had the opportunity to learn about the system of the German school from the inside out. They took part in many interesting lessons together with their German friends. Their afternoons, spent in nice and warm homes of German families, were also full of interesting activities.
We were also participants in many workshops prepared by the project coordinator in Germany, Ms. Uta Ksienrzyk. The children had the opportunity to test their culinary skills by taking part in a confectionery workshop at the local Gabler confectionery. The castle in Doberlug showed children the realities of the lives of monks, and also taught patience by offering interesting calligraphy workshops. Thanks to the courtesy of the local garden center, we were able to make Christmas decorations by ourselves.
The participation in the traditional Christmas markets in Dresden and Leipzig was also an unforgettable experience for us. We also visited Wittenberg, the city of Martin Luther; we had the opportunity to stand at the most famous place in Wittenberg - the door of the castle church. In the same city, students had the opportunity to visit the science center "Adventure with maths".
To sum up, both students and teachers have gained the enormity of the benefits of visiting a partner school in Germany. The need to communicate in English made students aware of how much they can do. Their self-confidence in language skills has become established. The opportunity to visit so many interesting places in such a magical period of Christmas time was an unforgettable experience for us.
Between 27th and 30th May the second transnational project meeting was held in the German school Bergschule in Doberlug-Kichhain.
During this meeting the teachers discussed the different issues concerning the project: the advantages and disadvantages of the project, which areas of the project need improvement, the results of the evaluation surveys, the timetable of the mobilities and activities in the year 2017/2018.
Except the discussion, the European teachers met the mayor of the town Doberlug-Kirchhain - Mr. Bodo Boszinsky, the whole school community.
The programme of the visit also included vistiting local tourist attractions.
