Between  13th  and  20th  February  five  groups  of  teachers  and  students  from  the  schools  in  Spain,  Germany,  Ireland,  Poland  and  England  participated  in  a  short  youth  exchange  at  a  Greek  school  within  Erasmus  Project  “Eurotrading – young entrepreneurs  on  the  move”.

All  the  participants  of  the  meeting   had a great  opportunity  to  explore  the  Greek  culture  and  life  style.  On  the  first  day  our  Greek  hosts  prepared  a  presentation  about  the  city  of Patras  and  large  choice  of  traditional,  Greek  meals  which  we  could  taste.  All   foreign  visitors  were  cheerfully  welcomed  by  the  head,  the  staff  and  the  students  of  the  Greek  school.  They  were  also  introduced  into  the  Greek  folklore,  popular  games  and  the  most  popular  and  famous  Greek  dance  Syrtaki,  well-known  as  Zorba.  A school  drama  club  performed  an  ancient,  Greek  story.

Next  day  all  the  visitors  were  invited  to  the  University  where  they  were  engaged  into  the  intercultural  activities.  First,  they  listened  to the lecture  about  the  role  of  culture  in  our  life,  then  they  took  a  part  in  different  activities  and  workshops.  Their  task  was  to  promote  the  tourist  attractions  of  Greece  to  different  ethnic  and  culture  groups.  According  to  all  the  visitors  it  was  a  really  interesting  experience  for  all  of  them.

    A great  event  was  an  all-day  trip  to  Delphi.  During  the  journey  they  could  admire  the  beauty  of  the  Greek  landscape.  They  visited  the  ruins  of  the  ancient  sanctuary  and  the  seat  of  the  most  famous,  ancient  oracle.  They  entered  the  well-known  Apollo  temple  through a  small  market  square  surrounded  with  the ruins  of the  Roman  shops  and  porticoes.  The  cobbled  sacred  road  winds   up  to  the  mountain,  surrounded  with  the  pedestals  of  former  bronze  and  marble  statues.  All  the  foreign  visitors  were  deeply  impressed   with  the  Greek,  ancient  history.

Patras  is  the  Greek  capital  of  carnival. The  streets  of the  city  were  crowded  with  disguised  people  and  there  were  everywhere  the  stolls  offering  costumes  or  carnival  masks.  The  great  parade  of  the  students  began  at  noon.  The  hosting  school  prepared  the  costumes  of  the  paradise  birds  for  all  visitors.  The parade  was  the  greatest  event  of  the  Erasmus  meeting.

    It  was  really  sad  to  farewell  to  Greece  and   fantastic  Greek  people.  On  the  departure  day  Greece  was  goodbying  us  with  rain.   Each  of the  participants  brought  home  fantastic  and  unforgettable  memories.
